Kilmer has signed on to star in 1st Born, a comedy from Iranian director Ali Atshani. The project centers on a newlywed couple, Iran-born Ben and his American wife, Kate, who are living in California. When there’s a complication with Kate’s first pregnancy, both Ben’s and Kate’s families must come together — a rather complicated notion as Ben’s father, Hamid, is an anti-American Iranian politician, while Kate’s father, Biden (played by Kilmer), is an American politician who takes a hardline stance against Iran.
TEHRAN – Iranian director Ali Atshani plans to make a comedy project titled “1st Born”, which will be the first co-production between Iran and America, the Hollywood Reporter announced on Tuesday.
Heroes alumni Taylor Cole have been added to the cast of the Ali Atshani-directed comedy 1st Born, a U.S./Iranian co-production. The two join Val Kilmer, William Baldwin, Robert Knepper, Jay Abdo and Armin Amiri in the film, which follows a young mixed-nationality couple, Iranian born Ben and American Kate, who are experiencing complications in their first pregnancy.
